Jiro Kusano (草野 次郎, Kusano Jirō), commonly known as Roji (ロージー, Rōjī, Ji-ro said backward), is the deuteragonist of Muhyo & Roji's Bureau of Supernatural Investigation. He is a Magic Law practitioner, and, at the start of the manga, is a Second Clerk. He is Muhyo's assistant.

Appearance[]

Roji is a young slim man with blond hair with brown-orange eyes.

Personality[]

Roji is optimistic and always tries to see the good in people. He can be a bit of a whiner and crybaby, which annoys Muhyo. Constantly, he tries to make up for his weak Magic Law abilities by studying, and always tries to help Muhyo as much as he can. Like Muhyo, he also enjoys reading Jabin. In truth, Roji is a very kind, sensitive person, and he is the one who takes a lot of risks when it comes to protecting Muhyo. Therefore, Roji has a different kind of power that no one has: a kind and unwavering heart.

Background[]

Jiro, nicknamed Roji, became a magic practitioner in the first place because his friend became possessed. An executor showed up, exorcising the spirit and saving Roji's friend. This set him on the road to becoming Muhyo's assistant.

After failing the entrance exam to the practitioner academy, he ventured accidentally into an interview to become Muhyo's assistant. Lured to enter the building because the sign declaring the interview read "No magic law experience needed." He stumbled into the interviewing room by mistake and, after an awkward interview, departed. A few days later, a grudge attacked the hotel where he was staying. Roji seized a staff while in the grudges clutches and his tempering caused the staff to flare and take a fair chunk out of the grudge's side. At this exact moment, Muhyo shows up to sentence the haunt and asks Roji why he wants to practice Magic Law.

Abilities[]

Magic pen and Seal: Roji uses a magic pen to create spells by writing on the seals to attack, defend, or to support.

Direct Binding: Through much practice, Roji has perfected his “Direct Binding”. Direct binding is when Roji uses his Magic Pen to write the seals contents directly onto a ghost or individual. This causes ghosts to be shocked and damaged, and then immobile.

Super-Fab-Tech: Or the simpler term would be "complicated engineering crafts" (basically he makes silly costumes and surprisingly well made and constructed items)

This is Roji's hobby. Due to his skills with "super-fab-tech" he is profficient in engineering, crafts, mathematics, and physics.

Etymology[]

  • The name Jiro means "next" (次) (ji) and "son" (郎) (ro).
  • Jiro's surname Kusano means "grass, herb, weed" (草) (kusa) and "field, wilderness" (野) (no).
